Lots to update, but not in the mood for long exposition tonight. So...
1. Won Nano. Total word count: 50,016. Number of pages: 198
2. Loft memoir class ended last week. I read The Sound Of Music, Parts 1 & 2 and everybody seemed to like them. Plan on reading Part 2 at the Student Reading this week (but that's a big maybe. I signed up late and the list was full; they may have closed it off before I signed up. Have to call tomorrow and find out for sure).
3. Am overdosing on reading biographies right now. In the middle of Kevin Jennings's and it's really kind of depressing at this point. I know it has a happy ending, but you have to read all the bad stuff first to get to it. I should say though it is very good and KJ is one person I admire quite a lot (I've seen him speak twice). I was all set to buy the one by Reichen Lehmkuhl, but read a couple of chapters first. V. depressing and a real downer...I also got a slight impression he is kind of shallow, so I passed. Instead, picked up a memoir by Bob Harris who was a big winner (and loser) on Jeopardy! . He's also written for CSI (and that was the clincher).
4. Sent in a piece, I Just Know It (a.k.a. the Bigfoot story), for possible publication in a book called Minnesota Memories 7. Saw an ad looking for contributions in the Loft's newsletter, so I thought I would take a chance. V. scary, in a way. Will find out in January if it has been accepted or not.
