Today Steef and I went to FallCon, a two-day comic book convention held every Autumn at the State Fairgrounds. It's not big like the ones in Chicago or San Diego, but it's still pretty nice.
In a both majorly geeky and cutesy move, we both wore Flash t-shirts (Wally West for him, Jay Garrick for me).
We met Jer & Kate for a panel discussion ("Spiritual Themes in Comics") that unfortunately was somewhat dull. The 4 panelists didn't seem to know how to use microphones and spent a great deal of time talking amongst themselves, rather than to the (admittedly) tiny audience. Steef and I walked out halfway through, though Jer & Kate stuck it out. Of course, then Jer had to say, "You should have been here for the ones yesterday! They were very good." Sigh.
As for purchases, not many were made. I found an Avengers TPB I'd been looking for and got it for 75% off. We some really cool Doctor Who toys and Steef made a mysterious purchase. He made me wait at the car while he went back to get it...it is supposedly to be my Christmas present (I think I've figured out what it is, don't tell him).
One highlight: We saw a custom-made Batmobile!
And the BatCycle! I would love to hop on this in some cool Bat-Leather (and, yes, Mom, my Bat-Helmet) and cruise the streets.
Here's Steef in his Flash t-shirt.
And I must say, hats off to Jerome W. (or should I say belts up?). I thought he was dead, but no sir, still alive and still dealing them comics.
