Weekend Update

Jas invited me up to his parents' lake home in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin this weekend. Drove up Saturday afternoon after work and got there about 4:00pm. Sat outside on the deck and chatted for a bit with Jas, his mom Debra, and his sister Mary.

Jas and I then went out on their Sea Doos and tooled around on the lake for an hour. Way fun! I've told Jas in the past that some day I want to have a house on a lake just so I can have a Sea Doo!

After we came in, the 4 of us went out to dinner at a place Mary called a "honky-tonk." I thought it was a decent little place, actually. The food was good, anyway, and it was quite busy.

Debra and Mary wanted to hit the casino after dinner, so we ventured over to St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake. Nice place, but small and very smoky. Still, it was pretty fun and I walked around a bit and people watched. Laughed to myself at some of the guys playing poker upstairs. They all looked so serious and many wore sunglasses like you see the pros do on those cable poker shows.

Ok, I admit it, I did gamble a little. Played only a couple Quarter Slot machines (that's my speed) and lost ($12). Jas, Mary, and Deb all played video poker. Jas was doing pretty well for a while, but he lost, too.

Back to the house after that and Jas's dad was back from a fishing trip with a couple of his buddies. Mary, Jas, and I watched some tv and then everyone headed off to bed. After a big breakfast of french toast & bacon this morning, Jas and I went back out on the Sea Doos. It's such a great feeling zipping around on those (sorry I sound like a commercial)...Jas was getting up to some serious speed on his, but I kept it a little slower. Still, great fun.

Came back this afternoon and now just hanging out at home, catching up on e-mails and such.

I totally envy your Sea Doo ability.
