Catch Up

A bit far behind here.  Time for an update.

Checked out the new IKEA store last Wednesday with M, Mrs. M, Bec & Eric.  Way cool place, but don't like the set-up.  I suppose from a marketing strategy, it's a dreamboat.  I couldn't help but think; "What if there's a fire?".  Bought a closet organizer thing, works great.  Am storing my polo shirts on its shelves.   Saw a dresser that I liked quite a bit; plan to go back and get it after Alaska trip.

Thursday caught I, Robot with M and his mom and brother.  Actually turned out quite good, much better than I thought it would be.  Will Smith wore a cool looking black leather jacket throughout the movie.  What is it, movie-wise, about the future and black leather jackets?  Very prevalent in sci-fi movies.  Wonder if Ebert has ever noticed this.

An unusually active weekend for me.  Saturday: Went with Jas up to his parents' house on Balsalm Lake, in Wisconsin.  Got there and almost immediately jumped on the Wave Runners.  Way cool, very fun.  Now I want to buy a house on a lake just so I can get a Wave Runner.  Jas and I tooled around for awhile, then he traded off with Mary.  She then traded off with Travis.  I really didn't want to come in.  But Jas' dad said we were off on a pontoon boat ride, so I came in.  It was a very nice and sunny day--not too hot at all.  Good thing I lathered on the sun-block (SPF 48--I put on 2 coats, so I called it 96).  Did manage to get some burn; as I was wearing a tank-top, couldn't reach the spot on my back.  Have two burns right down underneath my shoulder blades.  I call them my wings.  Travis and I went for another run on the Wave Runners , then came in for dinner.  V. good.  Jas and I back to the Cities after that.  Got home around 8:30....so tired, hit the sack at 10.

Sunday: Helped M with moving his mother from apt in Hopkins to a rental townhouse in Hopkins (it's so small! Eep!).  M's brother showed up wtih truck and dolly, which helped a great deal.  Yet, he managed to complain and swear about everything the entire time.  It wasn't a difficult move at all, really.  Since M's mom hired movers to come get furniture later in the week, all we did was basically move boxes.  It did take us 4 hours though.  A long afternoon...fortunately, also not a very hot day.  Pizza at M's afterwards with Mrs. M, who is still sick.

Last night  attended union meeting with Bec.  Explanation and Voting for new contract.  I didn't understand everything about the new insurance info.  Sound alternately good and bad.  Overall, it all sounded pretty good, so voted Yes, to accept.

E-mailing with Terecita about my trip to Alaska.  She wants to do an overnight hike.  We'll be hiking in the Eagle River Nature Center: hike in, stay overnight at a yurt, hike out next day.  Could be fun, kind of excited about it.

What the hell is a "yurt" ????

Today just random errands and such.  Wondering about Mom and Dad--hope they are having fun in Sweden and all is well.
