More Snow of Doom

So there I was, minding my own business and surfing the 'net one afternoon. Suddenly I heard a very loud ruuuuuummmmmbbbbbllllllle and Thwump!

I looked up and said aloud, "What the hell was that?" Had Steef been moving furniture around and dropped/smashed/fallen under something?

I peeked my head into the kitchen. Nope, there he was doing the dishes. "Did you hear that?" I asked. "Hear what? I didn't hear anything." he said in that precise tone that means 'John is hearing things again.' (Fair dos, sometimes the echoes in this house really throw me....but in my defense I swear the acoustics in here are totally whack.)

This time I was absolutely certain I heard something, so we began a systematic search. Soon, I saw it through a window in the front hallway. A huge bank of snow, including several large chunks of ice, had broken away from the roof, slid off, and crashed to the sidewalk two stories below. Once again, the mailman escaped a messy death. I went outside and cleared it away. Those ice chunks were heavy! All kidding aside, they really could have done some damage to anyone caught underneath.
