As I did the dishes this morning, I listened to one of my favorite CDs; The Grid's 4-5-6 (1992). Scrubbing away, I suddenly remembered why I bought that disc in the first place. Took me awhile to track it down, too, when I bought it. Had to special order it (it was an import) from Let It Be Records downtown Mpls. That was during the first time I lived in the Cities.
This then led me to remember that I didn't take the disc with me when I moved to Monterey. While browsing a hole in the wall record shop on Lighthouse Avenue one day, the owner played Fire Engine Red from the album. I didn't even recognize the tune! I asked him what song that was and he told me it was by The Grid! From 4-5-6! I must not have played the album much when I lived in Mpls.
While back in Minnesota for Christmas, I promptly retrieved said disc from storage and brought it back with me to CA. Needless to say, played it all the time and now it's one of my top 10.
Best tracks from 4-5-6: "Heartbeat" and "Fire Engine Red".
Also made up a pitcher of Strawberry Kool-Aid this morning. I recall Sandy G once telling me that the best Kool-Aid was red Kool-Aid. Didn't matter which flavor, as long as it was red. I tend to agree (although I am a bit partial to Lemon-Lime).
